Profile
I hold a Master’s degree in Political Science and Christian Theology (M.A.). Currently, I am a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics” at the WWU Münster. In my doctoral thesis, I investigate the role of religion in social cohesion from an empirical, global cross-country perspective. Areas of my research have focused on religion and sustainable development, the sociology of religion, social capital and cohesion, peace and conflict studies as well as development cooperation. In addition, I am a research fellow at the Humboldt University of Berlin and affiliated with the research project “Religious Communities and Sustainable Development” (RCSD) there. Furthermore, I represent the Cluster of Excellence of the WWU in the national thematic team “Religion and Sustainable Development” in Germany, initiated by the “Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development” (BMZ). Recently, I have been involved in a research project, coordinated by the "Institute for Foreign Cultural Affairs" (ifa), and co-authored a comprehensive study, inlcuding policy recommendations, for the German Federal Foreign Office (the Department "Religion and Foreign Policy") about the role of religious actors in the COVID-19 pandemic.
